WHAT IS ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS?
Alcoholics Anonymous, known as “A, A.” for short, is a fast-growing group of people for whom alcohol has become a major problem and who, admitting this, have decided to do something about it. They have in evidence of their own lives decided that for them, alcohol is a poison, and are honestly attempting to build a satisfactory mode of living without alcohol in any form. A.A. now has many thousands of members (men and women) worldwide. We believe that two thirds of us have laid a foundation for permanent sobriety and more than half have no relapse at all, despite the fact many had been considered incurable.
There are no dues or fees for membership.
The only requirement to join A.A. is a desire to stop drinking.
